Large contract with Cermaq
Cermaq has signed a large new contract with Havida worth NOK 10 million. With the new contract, Havida will deliver a complete solution along the coast of northern Norway.
With the new contract, Havida will deliver a complete solution including feeding cameras and integrated communication solutions for Cermaq’s cages along the coast of northern Norway.
The contract with salmon producer Cermaq is the largest contract Havida has signed so far, and the first installations are already in operation.
– “In these otherwise uncertain times, this contract from one of Norway’s largest seafood producers is a most welcome project for our company. It safeguards many jobs, creates security for families, and helps to keep the lights on in our coastal communities,” says Tomas Sund, CEO of the technology company Havida, which supplies monitoring equipment and control systems to blue industries.
Senior Purchaser and Category Manager at Cermaq, Vegar Hakstad, says that delivery reliability was an important criterion for awarding the contract to the Brønnøysund company.
– “Everything Havida produces and delivers is made here in Norway. If there’s one thing we’ve learned in the last few years, it is how important it is to have local suppliers who can ensure production,” says Hakstad, and adds:
– “Delivery reliability and high quality all along the line are more important criteria for us in our purchasing.”
Unique solutions
Havida’s product, Havida Sense, offers Cermaq unique solutions for monitoring and operation of the cages. We have developed the product over many years, and in close partnership with the aquaculture industry.
– “Havida Sense is a complete ecosystem for monitoring and communication in an aquaculture facility. Here we have gathered all the technology in one cabinet solution that gives you full control of everything from feeding the fish to monitoring and control in the same place,” Sund explains.
Sund says they are proud of winning this contract with Cermaq after competition with many other players.
Vegar Hakstad believes that Havida’s ability to compete deserves respect in the light of the extremely international market that aquaculture has become. – “Jobs and activity in rural Norway are very important for aquaculture and for us in Cermaq. And that’s exactly what this contract emphasizes,” Hakstad concludes.
